Day 8 - Saturday 11 June 2011 - Cruising

First day of cruising the high seas.

What a glorious day, sitting on the balcony as we travel north to Anchorage.  It appears we are cruising north about 5 kilometres from shore, as we can still see the shoreline in the distance.  There are a lot of other boats working these waterways.  I put my shorts on, but sitting on the balcony gave me a thrill.

Formal dinner tonite on board.  He did a great job as a vocal impersonator and I bought his DVD.

Show tonite on board City of Dreams.  This is living.

Finished the day with coffee and pizza after midnight, in the all hours café.

Day 7 - Friday 10 June 2011 - Radiance of the Seas.

Luck follows….  We have been upgraded to Balcony Stateroom.   I must thank Caribbean cruises.  What a great gift.

We board around lunch time.  What a good stateroom.   This feels like coming home to luxury.  Nothing better in the world.

Day 4 - 7 June 2011 San Francisco to Vancouver

Moving on day.

This morning we took the bus out to the golden gate bridge, then walked along a part of it.  (Didn’t have enough time to do the entire length).  It was highly unusual to see surf board rider working a break near the bridge.  See the photos.  This was a thrilling time.

Back into town, and shopping at Saks on 5th Avenue.  Broke the bank.

Train to SF Airport and fly to Vancouver. At the airport as I went through security, a woman tried removed my lap top and started walking away.  As I came through the metal detector, I noticed my lap top was missing.  I created a scene, and was able to recover it.

Day 3 - Monday 6 June 2011 - San Francisco - Alcatraz

Today I did Chinatown walk.  The walk was great and highly fascinating.  Deaperting from Union Square and working its way through Chinatown.  You then climb to one of the highest points in San Francisco which is Pioneer Park at Telegraph Hill. From here you descend a walkway through some lovely terraced gardens until you arrive at the wharf area.  On the way down I passed the Levi Strauss business park.

In the afternoon I took the ferry to Alcatraz and did the tour.  It is interesting to note it only operated as a federal prison from 1934  to 1963.

Day 2 - 5 June 2011 - San Francisco - Fishermans Wharf.
